The Bible Baptist Church of Athens began in March of 1989 as a joint venture between American missionaries, Bill Bailey and Larry Theofanopoulos. The church is an Independent Baptist church with the Authorized Version of the Bible as its final authority, the Lord Jesus Christ as its Saviour and Guide, and the evangelization of the lost as its heart and goal. Brother Theofanopoulos and his family left Greece in 1994, going on to Montreal, Canada where they started another Baptist church with the same international flavor they found in Greece. Brother Bailey and his wife continue laboring in Athens along with Peter and Lydia Tsirozidis. Peter and Lydia were saved and baptized in 1994. Peter has served as deacon of the church since July of 2003. They were joined in December of 2003 by the addition of another new missionary couple, the Lawsons. We look forward to what the Lord will do in Greece, a difficult country, where Orthodoxy is ingrained into the daily lives of its 11 million inhabitants, knowing that He alone is able to save and change these needy souls.

The church building is located in Halandri, a residential northern suburb of Athens, approximately 10km. away from the city center. You can easily reach the church through various means of transportation, the easiest and fastest being the Metro (subway) which could bring you from practically anywhere in Athens, to our doorway in less than half an hour.
